| South Northants Council Says “Get Composting†this Compost Awareness Week The thirteenth annual international Compost Awareness Week will be held from 6 - 12 May 2013. South Northamptonshire Council (SNC) is getting its residents involved by promoting the environmental benefits of home composting and the great results that can be achieved by using peat-free composts containing recycled material. During Compost Awareness Week 2013, SNC are staging a series of composting events including a scarecrow competition at the redeveloped Ashton allotments. South Northamptonshire Council’s portfolio holder for environmental services, Councillor Dermot Bambridge said: “The International Compost Awareness Week is a great opportunity to promote the importance of composting. It’s not only good for the environment, but also saves money. “For those interested in home composting who haven’t yet given it a go, now is the perfect time to get started.†SNC in partnership with getcomposting.com are offering home compost bins for as little as £16.98 plus delivery – less than half the recommended retail price of £39. There is also a ‘Buy One Get One Half Price’ offer, adding extra value to residents with larger gardens or those who team up with a friend or neighbour to buy a bin.
